Faster credit processes, lower costs, and higher customer satisfaction

About the client
BNP Paribas Bank Polska SA is a universal bank headquartered in Warsaw and part of the international BNP Paribas Group. Listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, it serves retail customers, businesses, and corporates. The bank has operated in Poland since 1975, previously as Bank Gospodarki Żywnościowej. It focuses on innovation, digitalization, and sustainable development.
Problem
The bank needed a solution to speed up and simplify credit processes—especially for installment loans offered in retail chains—where excessive paper documentation was a problem. Partners complained about storing sensitive contracts in stores, and customers didn’t want unnecessary paperwork at home. The processes were time-consuming, costly, and inefficient.
Solution requirements:
- Eliminate paper from credit processes
- Greater convenience for customers and store employees
- Full data security and regulatory compliance
- Improved operational efficiency and cost reduction
“Partners had frankly had enough of all the paper piling up. […] Customers also appreciated not having to keep unnecessary papers.”
- Michał Miszułowicz, Head of Startup Cooperation, BNP Paribas
Solution
BNP Paribas implemented the Autenti platform, enabling electronic signing of loan agreements—fully online, on any device. The technology was proposed by Autenti after winning the first Polish edition of the BNP Paribas International Hackathon in 2016.
Autenti ensures compliance with banking requirements: data are encrypted, the entire process is logged, and documents are stored on a durable medium. The platform acts as a trusted third party and removes the need for paper without compromising legal security.
“The solution worked so well that in the following years we signed eight more agreements with Autenti, covering various processes across the bank.”
- Michał Miszułowicz, Head of Startup Cooperation, BNP Paribas
Results
- Paper in the credit process reduced almost entirely
- Contract execution time shortened from several days to a few minutes
- Greater convenience for customers and retail partners
- Scaled to additional areas of the bank’s operations
- 6,000 trees saved in 3 years—the equivalent of a medium-sized forest
“Introducing modern technological solutions allows us to achieve all these goals simultaneously.”
- Krzysztof Wojciechowski, Managing Director of the Consumer Finance Sales Division, BNP Paribas
Future plans
Digitalization is one of the pillars of BNP Paribas’ development strategy. The bank is systematically expanding the use of e-signatures and Autenti services to additional processes and partner collaborations. The next step is deepening cooperation with retail partners such as Play and further automating processes in line with ESG principles.
